Solving Operator Storage Challenges: The D7 Luggage Bus

At VDI, we know that truly effective transport solutions start with listening.

From mining and charter work to shuttle and school service, we know that our customers work in fast-paced, high-demand environments and all face unique challenges that deserve tailored answers. That’s why we’re committed to more than just supplying vehicles; we’re focused on solving real-world problems with practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. Whether it’s improving vehicle functionality, enhancing comfort, or optimising storage, even the smallest design change can have a big impact on day-to-day operations.

When it comes to charter, shuttle and mining operations that require more luggage space than the typical journey, the fastest solution is often a rear luggage trailer. Although an easy solution, trailers are not always the most efficient creating many pain points for operators as they limit the manoeuvrability of a vehicle especially when trying to park or pull into narrow loading bays. For operators who don’t necessarily require a medium to large size bus but still want to optimise storage, towing a trailer just wasn’t the ideal solution, which led as to ask one simple question: what if you have all the reliability and comfort of the trusted D7, but with built-in luggage storage?

Purpose Built to Meet Operator Needs

From this issue, we introduced the D7 luggage bus: a compact 7-metre solution with a large integrated rear luggage compartment. This design eliminates the need for trailers altogether, giving operators the agility they need and the storage they’ve been asking for. This new variant is based on the well-loved D7 diesel model and retains everything operators value, the only difference? Now there’s a dedicated rear luggage area, easily accessible via a side door, making it faster and easier to load and unload bags at each stop.

  • 20 comfortable ADR68 approved seats
  • Rear storage area with side door
  • Overhead passenger storage
  • Driver’s entry door
  • 360-degree driver warning camera system

Storage Without Compromise

This added storage area doesn’t mean operators have to sacrifice performance, comfort or features. This bus is equipped with much-loved and popular features like a 360-degree camera, the ADAS advanced warning camera, a driver’s entry door and more. In addition to the rear compartment, the D7 Luggage Bus is also equipped with overhead storage bins, giving passengers a convenient place to stow smaller bags, backpacks, or personal items within arm’s reach. By integrating luggage storage directly into the vehicle, this model eliminates the need for trailers all while retaining the full feature set and user-friendly operation that operators already know and trust. It’s the same D7, only more versatile.
