This November, VDI’s Perth branch celebrated their 100th vehicle delivery for 2024, marking a significant step forward for mining and school transport across Western Australia.
Following its establishment in 2023, VDI’s Perth branch has grown tremendously, showing a particularly strong presence in the local mining industry and more recently in the school transport sector. Whilst initial operations proved challenging, their hard work and dedication came to fruition in mid-November of 2024 having reached their goal of 100 vehicle sales. This D7, the 100th vehicle sale, was made to prestigious Subiaco-based institution, Perth Modern School. VDI’s WA Business Development and Operations Manager Scott Lane says that school transport makes up only a small part of their sales due to their much larger presence in the mining industry. However, this does not devalue the significance of this sale and its noteworthy impact for VDI and future sales in the school transport sector.
Across Australia, VDI has enjoyed a fantastic year showing growth within various industries but none so prevalent than the school transport sector. Yutong’s 12-metre and 7-metre models have shown great promise within these industries, particularly the battery electric models, the D7E and C12E. VDI’s WA General Manager Mike Kennedy says that industries are preparing for a sustainable future, with models like the D7E and C12E proving essential for clients as they provide a reliable, reduced emission solution that cater to Australian environments.
2024 – A milestone year for school transport in Australia
Throughout 2024, VDI have proved the excellence of these vehicles through their collaboration with various school transport operators across the country. These battery electric models underwent a series of trials across regional NSW earlier this year as part of Transport for NSW’s ZEB trials. These trials have continued to grow throughout the year, expanding across the state to provide valuable results that only emphasize the brilliance of these vehicles. The C12E model also garnered the attention of other school operators including CDC Charter who, earlier this year, invested in their first Yutong battery electric bus which is now servicing the students of Barker College.
